Ha Noi, the capital city of Vietnam, is a cultural city at a day time which can grab anyone’s attention. But as Sun sets this city turns into a night crawling heaven for tourists and it’s peoples.
Because of this decision, I selected Hanoi as my starting point and initial stop on my trip to Vietnam. I am happy that I made this choice, as it transformed my apprehension about traveling solo in a foreign land for the first time into enthusiasm for discovering unfamiliar locales.
At first glance, the city in the image may appear crowded and unremarkable. However, once you begin to wander through its narrow alleyways, navigating past motorcycles and stores, you will discover a hidden beauty within. Despite their small size, the vendors and shops exude incredible hospitality when you inquire about their goods and their cultural significance.
If you are a vegetarian like me, adjusting to the strong smell of non-vegetarian food in Vietnam may take some time, primarily because of the open kitchens found in most restaurants and small vendors. However, once you become accustomed to it, you will discover one of Vietnam’s greatest treasures – Vietnamese coffee. I highly recommend trying out all the popular coffee variations such as Egg Coffee, Coconut Coffee, and Salt Coffee. As someone who relies on their morning cup of coffee to start the day off right, experiencing these unique flavors was truly heavenly.
For those interested in sampling Egg Coffee paired with Tiramisu, a visit to The Note Coffee near Hoan Kiem Lake is highly recommended. The experience is delightful, and patrons are provided with a sticky note and pen to share their thoughts on the café’s wall.
A Challenge for you all – locate my posted note in the image, tag me, and enjoy a Complimentary Coffee on me. Fair deal?
Where to stay in Ha Noi?
If you’re looking for a fun party experience with security, I highly recommend Hanoi Backpackers Hostel & Rooftop Bar. It’s conveniently situated near the city center, making it easy to walk to popular attractions like Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, Hoan Kiem Lake, The Note Coffee, and the old quarters. Their complimentary breakfast in the morning is fantastic. Each hostel room has a digital lock and a free locker for your belongings. Just remember to bring your own padlock for the locker as they don’t provide one for free. The rooftop bar hosts various events and bar crawls that are worth trying if you enjoy hopping between bars.
